BANK OF THE WEST - DOWNTOWN   Cedar Rapids, Iowa

For Bank of the West’s downtown facility, the goal was to create a strong physical presence that conveyed a sense of permanence in the community along 1st Avenue, the main thoroughfare in Cedar Rapids. The facility provided extensive floor space for operations, but also extra leasable space that provided the bank with a supplemental source of income in the short term and flexibility for future expansion in the long term. The two story entry lobby, with skylight, provides users with an airy feeling as they enter the building. The exterior masonry, stone, and metal panel roof provide durable and visually pleasing materials that have stood the test of time.
