BANK OF THE WEST - EDGEWOOD RD.       Cedar Rapids, Iowa

As the first building in the North River Village development, Brost Architects and Planners assisted AEGON in setting the design precedents that would later be incorporated in all subsequent buildings. The brick color, limestone, metal roof color, aluminum window framing, and green tinted glass all had to be incorporated into future buildings.

In addition to the limestone and brick that became the hallmark of the neighborhood, this Bank of the West building incorporates skylights over both the drive through and the main lobby space, in order to use natural day lighting strategies to offset electrical lighting.

In the evening, the skylights are lit up; creating a glowing affect that draws people to the building, as well as creating a better lit area to make occupants feel safer.
